Gum disease is serious. So are our supporters. Let’s build off this groundswell and help save lives.

49 states in the United States now officially stand behind the grassroots movement to raise awareness of gum disease and its treatment options by proclaiming February as Gum Disease Awareness Month. Hundreds of dental clinicians are showing strong support for this important cause; and, the social media world is taking notice, with more than 15,000 followers joining the crusade.

The Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry (IALD), a non-profit dedicated to raising awareness of gum disease, started Fight Gum Disease to increase awareness of this silent killer.  We’re thrilled with this groundswell of support, but we’re not satisfied.

With recent research and mounting evidence suggesting gum disease’s link to heart disease, stroke, some cancers and even stillbirths, the IALD believes it is extremely critical to educate everyone about the dangers behind this often ignored and undiagnosed medical problem. Experts say that as many as 85% of American adults suffer from some form of gum disease—and most don’t even know it.

Join us in our movement to create further awareness of this widespread, yet treatable, health threat. We encourage YOU to endorse our cause, and to share the facts about gums disease with your family and friends. Together, we can educate more people – and ultimately, help save more lives.
